Details

Finally bringing to light a monumental project begun by Rabbi Boruch Oberlander of Budapest, Hungary, over ten years ago, the first glimpse of a new book on the Rebbe's life, The Rebbe's Early Years, the life of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, from birth until his arrival in the United States in 1941, was released tonight at the International Conference of Shluchim.
The 112-page excerpt, focusing on the marriage of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin in Warsaw in 5689 (1928), features "every known document and on-the-record account of these events." The team of scholars and researchers led by Oberlander and his co-author, Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin, "researched, studied, translated, and presented the documents in narrative form, along with facsimiles of a large number of key documents" - many of them published in the book for the first time.
