Details

The twelfth of Tammuz marks the anniversary of the release of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch, the Rebbe?s father-in-law, from Soviet prison in 1927.

In this internationally televised event spanning six talks plus an original chasidic discourse, the Rebbe addresses the timeless truths of the Written Law, Talmud, Kabbalah and Chasidism, and applies them to issues of contemporary social and ethical concern.

In particular, the Rebbe focuses on the topic of education, sharing the story of his predecessor?s first arrest at eleven years of age, and the urgent need for children to be raised with the knowledge of a Higher Being, an "eye that sees and ear that hears" everything they do.

The Rebbe raises an alarm, cautioning that a society that ignores its responsibility to educate its children to the existence of G-d, risks losing its bearings - in fact, it dictates that this will be the result.

During pauses in the Yiddish talk, the thousands in attendance sing Chassidic melodies and the Rebbe greets them with blessings of L?Chaim!

To experience a Farbrengen is to glimpse the unity of higher and lower worlds, a meeting of the Divine and the human, the mystical and the mundane, the timely and the timeless.
